Because of their big and round heads the dogs were called “Round Heads” and the first club dedicated to these dogs appeared. It was called the club of “Round Heads”; later the name of the breed as changed and the name it was called is known now.

The dog appeared in 1889 when it was crossbred with other fighting dogs such as bulldog and others. They were first used as fighting dogs and ratters too.
