There are usually 3 or 4 puppies in a litter and they are born too small ad weak. These are very expensive dogs notwithstanding they are for being companions only. They also make good watch dogs but their small size do not let them to be guard dogs.

The average lifespan of the breed is about 13 years. If the care is proper and the exercises enough the dog will not suffer from any diseases though this breed is prone to some.
