Boston Terrier Rescue

Boston Terrier Rescue organizations across the country make up a network of clubs whose mission is finding and placing abandoned or stray Boston Terriers. Rescue specialists offer great help for both dogs in need and their future owners, as well as Boston Terrier owners who, for various reasons, are compelled to surrender their dogs to rescue organizations.

There are many reasons why people abandon their dogs. Unfortunately, this is often by reason of negligence and lack of responsibility, when people purchase puppies not knowing what kind of dog it is and how it should be handled. Many young owners get frustrated when they face some behavioral problems that are common to puppies in general. All puppies, even the most well-behaved, are destructive in a way, as they chew on everything they can grab with their mouth: shoes, plastic boxes, clothes, books, electric cords, etc. Strangely enough, for some dog owners, giving up on their Boston terriers is easier than purchasing toys for them, and they see no alternative but to yield their dogs to Boston Terrier Rescue.

Very often, novice owners purchase puppies in wrong places. If a person has initially dreamt of a purebred dog with a decent pedigree and has planned to participate in dog shows, but has purchased the puppy from a “puppy mill” or at a pet store, odds are he or she will be hugely disappointed to find his or her dog not good enough for dog events. Then comes the yearning for the money they have paid and a sense of total frustration. Some dogs that have passed through the ordeal of living in backyard cages or have been abused in other ways may show aggression, which can be a serious problem.

Of course, there are other plausible reasons why people are no longer fit to care for their dogs. If a person goes down with a serious disease, surrendering his or her dog to a rescue club will be a good idea. Sometimes, dogs find themselves all alone when the owner dies, so Boston Terrier Rescue organizations take particular care for these Boston Terriers.

Boston Terriers are very affectionate and loyal companions, and despite their somewhat formidable appearance, they are not aggressive at all. Being extremely communicative, they do not make any difference between their loved ones and strangers. This can be a reason for disappointment for those who have viewed the Boston Terrier as a guard dog. Please, do not buy a dog without studying its history, physical and mental characteristics and the purpose of breeding. Unfortunately, not all people regard dog ownership with due responsibility or they simply fail to realize that having a dog in the house is not a pleasure cruise. Animals in our homes are members of our families, so they must be treated with as much love and self-sacrifice as if they were our children. Buying a puppy requires almost as much responsibility as having kids, and surrendering a dog to Boston Terrier Rescue is akin to sending a child to an orphan’s home.
